For the past month I have noticed that the bed has been making a scree, cha-thump when ever the wife or I would get in or out of it. So a few weeks ago, I figured it was just the central support of the main frame, so I got under the bed and checked the central lateral support and feet and tightened them, since the were both loose.

The noise didn’t go away, so after promising this weekend I would take the bed apart and look at it, I got to it this afternoon. After getting the mattress and box spring off I saw that the lateral support feet had just crushed the carpet so I got a couple of wood blocks the spread the load and tightened it all over again. Then I noticed something wasn’t right about the bottom of the box spring, yes, undoubtedly the central metal channel had snapped in the middle of the bed. The sexual Olympics over stretched the support systems all right. So I thought to myself, how do I repair this. Ding, ding, ding. Rebar and ¼” electrical zip strips. So I cut two 3 foot sections of rebar and after hammering the channel mostly straight I tied it all together with the zip strips, I used about 20 of them. Yes, zip strips, not just for restraining criminals and spouses any more, now for extra strength bed reinforcement.

Anyway, the sound went away and I am refusing to answer my wife’s questions about whether her ass is fat. I like breathing. Breathing is good.

Last night I was sitting watching Bionic Woman with O and it was towards the end of the program. Jamie strips down in preparation for a bath that her sister has drawn and waiting for her.
O observes as she takes off her shirt. “We’ll she’s not wearing a bra, that means they must have replaced her boobs when they gave her bionics.”

I said, “No they just replaced her Right arm as far as I know. But it would be cool if she had bionic boobs!” I elaborate, “Just think she would thrust out her chest, ::Nah, nah, nah, nah:: And her boobs would extend 5 feet and SPANK the living crap out of the bad guy, then retreat ::Nah, nah, nah, nah:: back to their normal position.

The disbelief on O’s face was classic, then Crevette said, “Just think of the interesting nipple marks it would leave on the baddie. It would be like the mark of the Phantom ring.”

O said, “Fine you could have just said go to bed.”

In looking for a document today I found this bit of fun with raphaela. This is from May of 2003. Enjoy.

From major_thom4321
How much arrd could an aardvark vark. If an aardvark, could aard vark?

I figure if you put a pink tutu and ballet slippers on one you might get 10 grams.

From raphaelaraphaela</lj>
I disagree. You put an aardvark in a pink tutu and ballet slippers, and he's not going to be able to aard any vark for all the scantily clad porcupines mobbing him. It's just that way.

From major_thom4321
But it he scantily clad porcupines are plucked and pleasantly patterned in pristine puce and purple polygons the aardvarks may produce more.

From raphaela
This is true. I'll check with my people to see what we can do in puce.

I checked with my design team. The puce washes out the porcupines leaving them in a pallor. I suggest going with a pink plaid, which isn't nearly so pernicious in paling the porcs.

From major_thom4321
Perhaps producing a plaid would be pleasant but pink on porcs are proscribed by populist proclamation in parliamentary polling.

From raphaela
Those populist prols can probably be appeased with a production of polyester once they are provided proper positive instruction to the profits of such-in pink.

From major_thom4321
Polyester produces a pusie pox when put in proximity to porc. pituitary production ports.

From raphaela
Pathetic! Principally when presented proper products, though, porcs pine for poly.

From major_thom4321
Preposterous, professionally produced projects found profound poxes to prevalent when placed in parallel with pathetically palled porcs. Presently no pharmacology prevents the pathology that is present.

This certainly brings back memories.
I wish she could actually repeat what she is told, or interpret accurately.

I tell her the following just 15 minutes ago.

“Marge, the 2 base foam tools that we buy, we can’t get them from our supplier, because their mold produces them in the wrong ratios; 6 plano, 2 twos, 2 sixes and 2 eights, and they don’t have plans to re-cut the mold to produce a more balanced distribution of sizes. Offer the customer plano base foam tools instead, since the way this supplier works, no back orders, I can only get them if I time my phone call to them right.”

Marge interprets this to a customer as;

“Sir, you can’t have the 2 base tool you want. The manufacturer, uh supplier, is uh, not making them right now so I don’t know when we’ll have them again, if ever. I have plano base tools I can sell you.”

I know I haven’t updated in a very long time and this is an extremely lame excuse of a post. This is a modeling and painting post so you can run for the hills now if you are not interested. Don’t say that you were not warned.

The commission Vietnam NVA minis are very nearly finished now. This is the second half of the commission work that also included the US troopers. In many ways painting these guys was a lot harder than painting the US troops, mostly because of the non-standardized structure of the NVA suppliers and the use of local variants. So after long though this is how I painted the NVA troops. Blouses and helmets were painted GW Kommando Khaki. Trousers, backpacks and webbing were painted Testors Acryl Olive Drab. The ubiquitous chest magazine pouch was painted GW Catachan Green. Bedrolls, belt pouches, holsters and bread bags were painted GW Graveyard Earth. Flesh tones were painted GW Bronzed Flesh. Canteens and RPG heads were painted GW Dark Angels green. Rifle stocks were painted GW Dark Flesh, while the metals were painted with Testors Acryl Gun Metal. I painted the bases GW Graveyard Earth last night and they are ready for a dry brush of PollyS Sand tonight. Then I all I have to do is on some of the Viet Cong, is paint their scarves, then give them a seal coat.

After that both the US and NVA will get static grass added to their bases followed by a coat of Testors Dull Coat. Hopefully soon after I will have photos up of the finished product.

Finally I prepared and primed the three pieces of terrain, 2 huts and 1 mortar pit. If I have time I'll start painting them on Wednesday.

    <lj:music>Relax, Frankie goes to Hollywood</lj:music>

I told this story to crevette a couple of days ago and she insists that I most write it down.

While sitting out on the steps of the front porch of my house Halloween night I happened to pass out to a young couple with their child, a boy of about 18 to 24 months of age in a stroller. As per most of the night when people came down the walk I did not get up from sitting on the steps, it put me down to the level of most of the kids that were collecting candy. So as most kids are when they that age the boy is now very bashful when I hold out the candy bowl. No amount of encouragement from me was going to get the boy to reach out his hand.

Mom appears to be about 20 to 22, attractive and blonde, with husband/boyfriend. She tells the boy to go ahead and he can take something but the poor little guy just won’t. So Mom half squats down and then bends over the bowl to help him pick something out.

You might wonder where this story is going. We’ll I’ll tell you… down. Yep Mom was wearing a low cut shirt, and when she bent down, she gave me a great view of some very splendid cleavage. I think my jaw dropped.

She stayed that way for a minute of so and I concentrated my view on the candy. No, not that candy! I’m talking the candy in the bowl.

When they were finally done, I wished them a Happy Halloween and I had been given my Trick or Treat of the evening.

Fine, I’m a pig.

For the guys, she was wearing a bra.

Through the magic of modern technology; a long ethernet cable and a laptop I can post from my front porch while waiting for the hordes of trick or treaters this evening.

So far I have had about 2 dozen kids at ten of seven and the night is young. One thing I have noticed this year is so lack of courtesy in some cases. I don't get it you would think that as many years as the trick or treating custom has been going on parents would coach their kids just a little better. Please, thank you and of course the ritual words "trick or treat" are required.

If the door is closed and no one is around knock or ring the door bell. Just don't stand there like a lawn ornament and expect serve to suddenly show up. A little effort please.

Additionally if someone says help yourself to anyone item and they are holding out the bowl of goodies, choices such as the laptop, the cat, the pumpkins and the deed to the house are not really acceptable. Yeah, I realize you are trying to be funny, however kid, you are not.

Tonight's offerings in the goody bowl are as follows;
Popcorn, gummy body parts, Play-Doh, Eye balls, Teddy Grahams and a sugary substance in a small bottle. By far everyones favorite seem to be the popcorn. I think next year we need tp drop any pretense at candy all together and just handout just the popcorn. I think giving kids a choice in this particular case is definitely over achieving.
This morning I got up at 5:00am in the morning so I could drive crevette to her rendezvous with destiny, aka the 3 Day Breast Cancer walk. So I go into the bathroom and turn on the light, then I hear an incoherent snarl and a few words vaguely sounding like 5:30 from the bedroom as she stomps to the door and slams it.

Nice, I have to get up early to haul her butt to Sand Key Park, the starting site and she can’t even be bothered to get up and keep me company. I get out of the bathroom and wake her a second time; it’s 5:27am. She still won’t move. It’s now 5:34. I leave the bedroom to pack my lunch.

telaryn is to arrive by 6:10am so I can get them there in time, but she arrives early at 6:00 so since I am ready and so is Telaryn we chase Crevette out of the house under heavy protest. “But is only 6:00. You said I wouldn’t have to leave till 6:10.” Me, “Get you ass in the car, your not getting any younger while you complain about 10 minutes.”

I was really glad about having the extra 10 minutes, even though crevette continued to complain. On the bridge right before the park she says, “We don’t need to be dropped off until 6:30.” Me, “Drop off is anytime I kick your freaky ass to the curb this morning.” Telaryn agreed from the back seat. We arrived at the park at 6:17 and it was pitch black and there were police directing traffic, since there was lots of it going into the park for drop-off and spectators. The drop off area was packed with people with more arriving by foot, bike and vehicle with every passing moment.

I gave her a kiss and wished her luck. Then she and Telaryn joined the crowd.

End times for BSG?

"Word has begun to circulate that NBC's acquisition of 'Battlestar Galactica' is in the "waiting for the ink to dry" phase at this moment, and an official announcement could be days away. The program, which returned for its third season last friday, continues to delight fans and critics alike. With Universal's involvement in the big reimagining, it was always a possibility that the program could be pulled to the network if it proved successful enough, and with the lashing NBC is taking over its fall line-up so far an ace-in-the-hole couldn't come at a better time.

The show will make the move to NBC as a mid-season replacement, possibly taking the slot currently occupied by "Studio 60" which would make sense given the genre-centric lead-in of heroes.

The question is: will NBC be tolerant of the quasi-political themes that BSG seems to take from the most controversial page of world events? In recent episodes, BSG has examined the flip side of insurgency, terrorists as freedom-fighters, and any number of edgy themes. In the small arena of cable, it is easy to get away with forays into these troubled waters; cable shows are expected to push the envelope to maintain any kind of viewership. On the big network, however, it may be seen as a statement of NBC's political alignment and in polarizing times such as these the concern may be that these themes could bring about the kind of controversy that drives viewers away. Of course, it could do just the opposite."

http://www.battlestargalacticasite.com/2006/10/bsg_to_nbc_can_it_survive.php

This would kill BSG as we know it. I don't want the OC or Seventh Heaven in space.
